The Honourable Dr Wayne Mapp QSO was New Zealand’s Minister of Defence and Minister of Science and Innovation from 2008 to 2011. He served as the Member of Parliament for the North Shore electorate from the 1996 elections until his retirement in late 2011, and he was appointed to the New Zealand Law Commission in 2012. As defence minister, Dr Mapp launched the 2010 Defence White Paper, and was a member of the Advisory Panel for the 2016 Defence White Paper. Before entering politics, he lectured in commercial law at the University of Auckland.
