Trans-Tasman security integrator has promoted from within and stood up a new high-profile business unit to focus on bringing world-leading innovation to its solution line-up.

Optic Security Group, which bases its New Zealand operations out of Auckland and Wellington, has announced the promotion of Group Marketing Manager Vicki Barber to a new Group Brand Strategy & Innovation Director role.

Ms Barber joined Optic in 2021 as Group Marketing Manager, following over 25 years in strategic and creative marketing management.

Based in Melbourne, she has led Optic’s multi-channel marketing activities to new levels of success, positioning the Group as a leading security brand across Australia, New Zealand, and the region, and establishing the Group’s voice as the leading Australasian proponent of converged security.

“Over the past three years, Vicki has demonstrated exceptional capability, leadership, and dedication,” said Optic Security Group CEO Ferzad Bharucha. “Her contributions have been instrumental in shaping our marketing strategies and enhancing our brand presence.”

In the newly established role, Ms Barber will take on brand, marketing, product innovation, customer experience, and bid governance. She will also head up a new product innovation division tasked with identifying emerging security, risk management, and organisational resilience technologies, and operationalising the tech for customer deployments.

“Our new product innovation capability will deliver to them the advice and the de-risked solutions to address their security threats and support their business goals well into the future.”

The new business unit will include world recognised CCTV and video surveillance technologist Vlado Damjanovski and award-winning security risk specialist Nicholas Dynon.

Adelaide-based Business Development Manager Vlado Damjanovski, better known as the author of the “CCTV Bible”, moves into the new role of Product Innovation Manager.

Mr Damjanovski will identify, test and introduce emerging technologies to the Optic line-up, including advanced analytics, generative AI, surveillance cloud, biometrics, virtual and augmented reality, and other data-driven capabilities.

Auckland-based Enterprise Security Risk Manager Nicholas Dynon, a security consultant and widely recognised author and commentator on security risk, moves to the new role of Innovation and Risk Manager. He will support the emerging tech focus through research, communications, and customer-focused risk advisory services.

“Together, this new team will drive a step change in our marketing, communication, and product innovation capability,” said Mr Bharucha.

“Our customers are rightly risk-averse yet interested in how emerging technologies can deliver better and more cost-effective security outcomes. Our new product innovation capability will deliver to them the advice and the de-risked solutions to address their security threats and support their business goals well into the future.”
